Dr. Jon Davies, Director and Founder McKenzie River Men's Center

Website

The Mission of the McKenzie River Men’s Center (MRMC) is “helping men lead healthier lives and preventing violence in Lane County and beyond”.  Programs and services of the MRMC are based on the Men’s Center Model (Davies, Shen-Miller, and Isacco, 2010) see possiblemasculinities.com.

The Center is staffed primarily with volunteers and funded by fees for service and donations. Your generous contributions are essential to supporting the MRMC’s efforts  to help men lead healthier lives and reduce violence. To donate or volunteer contact Jon Davies.

Jon Davies is a nationally recognized presenter and consultant on men’s issues. He is a Licensed Psychologist and the founder and Director of the McKenzie River Men’s Center in Eugene, Oregon.  For almost 20 years  Jon served as Senior Staff Psychologist at the University of Oregon’s Counseling and Testing Center where in collaboration with other student service professionals conducted research on the barriers college men face to seeking help and collected suggestions for helping them lead healthy lives.  On the basis of that study, Jon and his colleagues founded the UO Men’s Center, one of the first men’s centers on a college campus dedicated to helping college men lead healthy lives and reducing male perpetrated violence. With his colleagues David Shen-Miller and Anthony Isacco, he co-developed the Men’s Center Approach to helping college men lead healthy lives. They co-authored a series of articles on this unique approach. One of the principles of this approach is creating therapeutic opportunities in non-therapy settings and promoting possible masculinities (See approach).   In 2011, Jon was honored to be selected as Practitioner of the Year by American Psychology Association’s Division 51, The Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinity. In 2012 Jon was recognized for his “Outstanding Contributions to Counseling Center Work”, by Division 17, Society for Counseling Psychology.  In 2013, Jon received a Lifetime Achievement award by Lane County Psychologists’ Association.
